You'll find the Army ROTC program is a near perfect complement to Keuka's trademark approach to experiential, hands-on learning.

All Keuka students have more than 500 hours of real-world experience in their field by the time they graduate. However, if you chose to participate in Army ROTC, you'll also gain some of the most refined, highly sought after leadership and conflict-resolution skills in the world.

What's Army ROTC?

The Army ROTC program is a hands-on experience that will provide you with the necessary academic, physical, and leadership traits you’ll need as a commissioned officer in the United States Army. Founded in 1948, the Army ROTC program has produced some of the best and brightest thinkers, managers, and problem solvers in the U.S. military.

Do I Need to Join the Army?

No—you may participate in up to two years of ROTC training without making any form of commitment to the Army.

The basic course is a wonderful way to gain highly coveted leadership, time management, and organizational skills that will be invaluable to careers in civilian life. Additionally, the basic program can provide insight into whether service in the U.S. military will help you achieve your educational and professional goals.

If you do plan on joining the Army, many financial incentives—ranging from a $350 monthly stipend to full-tuition scholarships—are available for ROTC cadets.

Where Does ROTC Training Take Place?

The Rochester-area Army ROTC battalion is located at the Rochester Institute of Technology. While some ROTC activities, such as physical training, will take place on Keuka’s campus, ROTC cadets are brought to RIT every Friday for leadership lab and other academic and extracurricular opportunities such as color guard and marksmanship club.
