Jim White is an Assistant Professor in Management and the Director for Graduate Programs in the Business Division of Keuka College. Jim teaches both in the ASAP program and the MSM.IB (International Business Masters degree) program. His graduate work has included studies in entrepreneurship, management information systems, knowledge management, adult learning, and finance. While Jim teaches many courses across the business curriculum, he typically focuses on graduate courses in finance, accounting, strategy, action research, ethics, and statistics. Prior to his work at Keuka College, he worked in retail and wholesale management for 37 years. This work included being a district manager, store manager, senior financial analyst, and retail counselor. As a retail counselor Jim worked with owners of retail grocery stores in the development of strategy, marketing, and business operations. In addition to his professional life Jim has 10 years of experience teaching as an adjunct for High Point University in North Carolina.
Jim began his higher education with a B.A. degree in English (literature) from Marietta College. These studies have helped Jim develop a firm foundation based in the liberal arts. Later in life Jim received an M.S. degree in management from High Point University. This degree was completed with a thesis involving the study of the relationship between risk and returns as they relate to capital projects. In 2007 Jim complete his PhD from Walden University. His dissertation was titled "Knowledge Sharing in Human Resource Community of Practice." This research helped establish a new and innovative way of examining how we share what we know. In 2010 Jim completed a Master's degree in Entrepreneurship (ME) from Western Carolina University. The purpose of this education was to provide a background that could be used to help small business owners or organizations working in the craft art profession.
Jim and his wife of 44 years, Linda, live in Syracuse, NY and enjoy restoring a craftsman home that was built in the early 1910's. Jim and Linda have enjoyed their move to Syracuse and hope to become involved with the local craft artist at some point in the near future.
