The integration of research into her clinical practice, and clinical expertise into her research makes Dr. Pruitt a true research-practitioner. By bridging the long-standing divide between researchers and clinicians, Dr. Pruitt ensures the realistic provision of best practices in her psychotherapy practice.
A dedication to continued growth and development as a psychotherapist has culminated in the achievement of the highest clinical status for social workers offered in the state of New York. Her experience spans residential, community, and home-based treatment settings of voluntary and involuntary clients ranging in age from two to sixty-five years. Dr. Pruitt has provided expert court testimony, risk assessments, and consultation in numerous counties in New York State. Her knowledge and experience is shared in the community through her supervision of master’s level clinicians and graduate students.
Dr. Pruitt’s advanced clinical training and certification includes The National Child Traumatic Stress Network’s Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy Certified Therapist training, certification in the International Critical Incident Stress Foundation’s Trauma-Focused Crisis Intervention for Critical Incidents: Individual Crisis Intervention and Peer Support, and EMDR trained through the EMDR International Association Approved Child Trauma Institute. Dr. Pruitt continues to receive training within the Sensorimotor and Attachment, Humanistic and Interpersonal domains of trauma, including a year-long training with Dr. Janina Fisher on Working with the Neurobiological Legacy of Trauma (Level 1).
In addition to her clinical experience, Dr. Pruitt engages in timely and informative research. She currently serves as the principal investigator for Outdoor Adventures for Sacrifice in Service (OASIS), a not-for-profit recreational program for disabled veterans.
Dr. Pruitt’s commitment to the social work profession, Keuka College and its social work students is evident through her roles as a regional faculty member, Social Work program evaluation coordinator, Institutional Effectiveness committee member, Graduate Program committee member (current chair), and participation in specialized working groups such as the one examining Intellectual Property Rights.
