Biography

Dr. Colaprete is an associate professor of criminal justice administration at Keuka College. He served for 20 years in policing, retiring as a lieutenant.

He is currently teaching, consulting, and conducting independent criminal justice research in myriad topics as the owner and lead consultant of Justice Systems Solutions, LLC.

Dr. Colaprete has published three textbooks: Internal Investigations: A Practitioner’s Approach, Mentoring in the Criminal Justice Professions: Conveyance of the Craft (both released through Charles C. Thomas Publishers, Limited), and Pre-Employment Background Investigations for Public Safety Professionals (Taylor Francis Group/CRC Press). His publications also include numerous journal articles in police management, training, and investigations. His work has garnered the Top 10 finalist award from the IACP/Motorola Corporation Webber Seavey Award process and has also been featured in the National League of Cities database for successful municipal programs.

In 2009, the administration of the Norwich University School of Graduate Studies conferred upon him the Distinguished Faculty of the Year Award. He is also a Certified Litigation Specialist (C.L.S.) (Americans for Effective Law Enforcement) and certified master instructor, instructor evaluator, and instructor consultant through the New York State Division of Criminal Justice Services Office of Public Safety.
