FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE - Mar 2, 2007

Maine-Endwell High School Senior Selected Experiential Learner of the Year

Endwell resident Jennifer Bush, a senior at Maine-Endwell High School, is the recipient of Keuka College’s Experiential Learner of the Year Award for 2006-07.

Bush will receive a full academic fellowship to Keuka.

Since September, the College has presented Experiential Learner of the Month Awards to high school students from across New York state. The five recipients, who all received partial academic fellowships to the College, qualified for the Experiential Learner of the Year Award.

Keuka, the national leader in experiential, hands-on learning, established the program to honor high school students whose commitment to experiential, hands-on learning has made a difference in their communities.

Bush, the November winner, was nominated for the award by Laurie Wicks, a counselor at Maine-Endwell.

A consummate student-athlete, Bush is a member of National Honor Society, received scholar-athlete awards in lacrosse and field hockey, and was a recipient of the Cornell Spirit Award in field hockey. She serves as an English and social studies tutor and donated her time and talents to the After Prom Chem-Free Committee and Homecoming Float Committee.

Bush is a member of Students Against Drunk Driving and received the Gold and Silver Awards from the Girl Scouts.

She is also active in her community, serving her church as a Eucharistic minister, lector, altar server, and member of the choir. She has been a volunteer for the Town of Union’s Haunted Hayride, takes part in the annual river bank clean-up, volunteers at a food pantry, and is a member of the O.L. Davis Fire Company Auxiliary. Bush is a recipient of

the Catholic Youth Organization’s Outstanding Youth Award.

The Experiential Learner of the Month Award-winner has been featured on television stations throughout central, western, and northern New York state, as well as the Southern Tier.

The participating stations include WTVH, Channel 5, Syracuse (CBS); WHAM, Channel 13, Rochester (ABC); WKBW, Channel 7, Buffalo (ABC); WWNY, Channel 7, Watertown (CBS); and WBNG, Channel 12, Binghamton (CBS).

Keuka College is the national leader in experiential, hands-on learning.
