Avon Resident Patrick Campbell Selected Experiential Learner of the Month

KEUKA PARK, N.Y.—Patrick Campbell, a resident of Avon and a senior at Avon High School, received Keuka College’s Experiential Learner of the Month Award for September.

Keuka, the national leader in experiential, hands-on learning, established the program to honor high school students whose commitment to experiential, hands-on learning has made a difference in their communities.

Campbell will receive a partial academic fellowship to Keuka and qualify for the Experiential Learner of the Year Award, which carries a full academic fellowship to the College.

Campbell was nominated for the award by Jennifer Zaffuts, a school counselor at Avon.

“Patrick is the ideal student,” said Zaffuts. “His character is exemplary. He is always looking to help others and better our community. From helping a friend move into a new house, to dancing with the elderly at our school’s Senior Citizens Prom, to improving the condition of our football field, Patrick is always on the scene and willing to help out.”

Campbell has received numerous, school-wide academic awards and is a member of National Honor Society. He received the Avon Lions Club Student of the Month Award and the Livingston County Teen Recognition Award.

In addition to his stellar academic work and community service, Campbell is a three-sport athlete: football, basketball, and baseball.

The Experiential Learner of the Month Award-winner is featured on television stations throughout central, western, and northern New York state, as well as the Southern Tier.

The participating stations include WTVH, Channel 5, Syracuse (CBS); WHAM, Channel 13, Rochester (ABC); WWNY, Channel 7, Watertown (CBS); and WBNG, Channel 12, Binghamton (CBS).

Keuka College is the national leader in experiential, hands-on learning.
