FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE - Jun 23, 2009

Interest Session for D-Day Group Field Period June 29

An interest session for Keuka College Professor of History Sander Diamond's next Group Field Period is scheduled Monday, June 29 at 5 p.m. in the Hegeman Hall lobby.

Titled D-Day: London to Berlin Tour, the Group Field Period will be led by Diamond and Patrick Hinchy, an Oxford-trained specialist in military history.

The trip will run Dec. 27, 2009-Jan. 8, 2010 and include stops in London; Portsmouth; Caen, France; Paris; Reims; Belgium; Luxembourg; The Rhineland; and Berlin. Diamond has led more than 30 Group Field Periods since 1974, taking generations of students, faculty staff, alumni, and area residents to Germany, France, the former USSR, Israel, Jordan, Russia, Poland, and Italy.

In 2008, Diamond and Hinchy led a World War II-focused tour that followed the path of United States, British and Canadian forces from the war rooms beneath the streets of London to Potsdam, where the victors determined Germany’s fate after the unconditional surrender in May 1945.

The trip is open to community residents. For more information, contact Diamond at (315) 536-4689.
